چکیده

Electro-static potentials for samples with the topology of a ring and penetrated by an Aharonov-Bohm flux are discussed. The sensitivity of the electron-density distribution to small variations in the flux generates an effective electro-static potential which is itself a periodic function of flux. We investigate a simple model in which the flux sensitive potential leads to a persistent current which is enhanced compared to that of a loop of non-interacting electrons. For sample geometries with contacts the sensitivity of the electro-static potential to flux leads to a flux-induced capacitance. This capacitance gives the variation in charge due to an increment in flux. The fluxinduced capacitance is contrasted with the electro-chemical capacitance which gives the variation in charge due to an increment in an electro-chemical potential. The discussion is formulated in terms of characteristic functions which give the variation of the electro-static potential in the interior of the conductor due to an increment in the external control parameters (flux, electro-chemical potentials).

Persistent currents in mesoscopic Hubbard rings with spin-orbit interaction.

The effect of spin-orbit interaction on persistent currents in mesoscopic Hubbard rings threaded by an Aharonov-Bohm flux is investigated putting stress on the orbital magnetism. The non-perturbative treatment of the spin-orbit interaction developed by Meir et al. is combined with the Bethe ansatz solution to deal with this problem exactly. We find that the interplay of spin-orbit interaction a...

Resonant transport properties of tight-binding mesoscopic rings

Using the tight-binding model, we have studied the resonant-transport properties of the multiply connected ring systems threaded by magnetic flux F , and coupled to two electron reservoirs. For different flux F the electronic-energy spectrum and their corresponding total transmission probabilities of multiring systems have been calculated and compared. Some novel resonant-transport properties w...

Mesoscopic rings : two - fluid model

Kinetics of magnetic flux in the thin mesoscopic ring biased by an external magnetic flux exhibits the ratchet-like behavior. The 'flux velocity', i.e. the averaged time derivative of magnetic flux produced by the ring, is a candidate for a novel characteristics of mesoscopic rings. Its global properties reflect the possibility of accommodating persistent currents in the ring. 1 Mesoscopic ring...

Transmittance through Aharonov-Bohm Rings: Signature of Spin-Charge Separation

We present numerical calculations concerning the phenomenon of spin-charge separation in low-dimensional strongly correlated electron systems. Specifically, we study the t-J model on a flux-threaded ring connected to semi-infinite free-electron leads. The transmittance through such an Aharonov-Bohm ring shows an interference pattern with characteristic sharp dips at certain flux values, determi...

Graphene Rings in Magnetic Fields: Aharonov-Bohm Effect and Valley Splitting

We study the conductance of mesoscopic graphene rings in the presence of a perpendicular magnetic field by means of numerical calculations based on a tightbinding model. First, we consider the magnetoconductance of such rings and observe the Aharonov-Bohm effect. We investigate different regimes of the magnetic flux up to the quantum Hall regime, where the Aharonov-Bohm oscillations are suppres...
